Power 3’s

“A compilation of wins builds confidence, so we’ve got to find those SMALL wins!”

Welcome! This is the first “real” post (besides when we became BFF’s when I introduced myself to you all) on my new blog and I’m so excited to share this season of life as a new mom with you guys!

One of the biggest hurdles I feel like every new mother is faced with is confidence & self-worth. Nothing is as it was before our precious babies entered into this world given to us from our Creator. Not just our bodies, but our schedule, how we spend our “free-time” (wait…what exactly is that again?), & what we are constantly thinking about.

Am I feeding my baby enough? Is he/she doing the appropriate things for their age? When will I ever feel like myself again?

I’m sure you’ve heard that confidence is a muscle and we have to “exercise” it in order for it to grow, but how exactly is that supposed to happen? Like hello lady, I’m a new mom here I ain’t got time for anything! But – the good news is that none of these things require too much of our time, but instead our thoughts.

As a new mom myself, I’m constantly working on implementing what I like to call these tools as the “Power 3’s” to help remind me of what I DO have going for me, rather than what I don’t.

{{And let’s be honest…My brain is so scattered these days, that 3 things is about all I can handle before forgetting or getting distracted again by the baby!}}

— I very QUICKLY learned that my Type A, Get it done “To-Do” list personality is no longer dictated by myself, but rather my baby. I hate going to bed and feel like I’ve gotten nothing accomplished for the day that I wanted to do (even though I know it happens & I’m learning to be okay with it)!

  1. MORNING: The first POWER is writing down 3 things of HIGHEST importance or priority that you need to get done today. If you’re anything like me, your “To-Do” list is longer rather than shorter so try picking the top 3 that are your MUSTS that will lead to the most bang for your buck!
  2. AFTERNOON: Second POWER is 3 things you are thankful for. I’m constantly trying to stay in an “Attitude of Gratitude” state of mind, but it gets very difficult when things don’t go my way or when I start comparing myself to others. We, as mom’s, have got to stay in our lane and stop comparing our lives to everyone else!
  3. EVENING: Last POWER is 3 things that you are PROUD of for the day you just had! Sure, maybe your day didn’t go exactly as you wanted from your to-do list, but you kept a tiny human alive (even if you did lose it and yell).

I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more! If you’re a newbie at this “MOM” life like me or know someone that will be a mom soon, please share this blog with them! & if you’ve been a mom for awhile, I hope you stick around too and laugh with me sharing all your own insights you’ve learned along the way!

I hope this can provide helpful, encouraging, & sassy stories for all to enjoy šŸ™‚ Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates!

Why I’ve Created This!

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Hi there & Welcome to my new blog titled “Mama Matters”! I’m married to my high school sweetheart & we just welcomed our first baby boy into the world!

I’ve never had any desire to start a blog until literally like a month ago… šŸ™‚ I kept putting it off b/c honestly it’s freakin’ scary! Like who the heck wants to share the details of certain things in their life w/ people u don’t even know or just those random nosey fb friends that you’ve never even talked to, but fb “suggested” you guys be friends – hahah!

So…Why did I create this?

—- To learn & grow with other new or experienced moms out there! As a first time mom, I literally have NO idea what I’m doing and think this whole motherhood thing is just a guessing game.

Everyone prepared me for the birthing experience, but literally no-one let me in on the little secret that it’s the easiest part. I don’t know about you guys, but my recovery was ROUGH. Props to those of you who bounce back quickly (& I may be slightly jealous…sorry, not sorry).

Coming home with a new bundle of joy is such an experience that unless you are in that current season of life you will not understand it.

So why “Mama Matters” for the title?

  • After the “newness” of everyone coming to see the newborn baby & family going back to work, I felt nearly invisible. Tell me why throughout your entire pregnancy, everyone asks how YOU are doing/feeling & then after the baby is born it’s like BAM! Baby, baby, baby!
  • I get it! I really do! It’s new life…they are cute…cuddly…adorable…I’m guilty of doing the same thing, too! But, becoming a mom, myself, I have realized that sometimes we just want people to see us too
  • And that’s where THIS was created!
  • Every Mama out there deserves to know their significance b/c trust me you probably won’t find it when the baby starts crying as soon as you lay him down for a nap or when your husband is just snoozing away during that 2am, 4am, oh & 5:30am feedings!

I wanted to create this not only as a reminder for myself & sanity, but also b/c I’m right there in this journey with you…

—–>> As a new mom, I matter. As a new/experienced mom, YOU matter. & Along this entire journey, WE matter together!

My mission for this is to share with you the real and raw experiences we all go through as mom’s and even though Sally Sue looks like her life & children are just picture perfect on Instagram, we all have (or have had) to change nasty, poopy diapers at some point or another.

**Insert: Husband is currently calling my name from the living room b/c baby just pooped & he doesn’t want to change the diaper. Brb.

…Ok, I’m back. Baby boy is constipated so it wasn’t even that much poop…Hubby could have changed the diaper, but just didn’t want to…whatevs.

To finish this off, I hope you’ll read/comment/subscribe whatever you do with blogging (idk…I’m new here, remember), but more importantly that something will inspire you and you’ll want to share it with others! I’d love for this blog to be used as a platform to blow up with all kinds of positivity & encouragement from everyone in this season of life.

If you’re a new mom like me on your postpartum journey, I’d especially love to connect with you! Feel free to follow me on Instagram to get a behind the scenes look of our daily sassy life in my stories šŸ˜‰
